This is the first offshore engineering equipment research institute in China, and also the first offshore engineering equipment research institute led by enterprises. It will directly aim at market demand, core technology and key fields to carry out R & D and innovation, and complement the short board of "made in China"

The performance grades of bolts are divided into more than 10 grades, including 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 6.8, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9 and 12.9. Hubei offshore engineering equipment research institute is jointly constructed by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Marine Machinery Co., Ltd., Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd., China Shipbuilding Industry 719 Institute, shexter (Tianjin) Offshore Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 2billion yuan, It is expected to be completed by stages in 2017 and 2020

Yanjun, the first president of the Research Institute and deputy chief engineer of Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd., introduced that Hubei Offshore Engineering Research Institute mainly carried out the research and development of world-class large-scale offshore engineering equipment, offshore engineering high-tech ships, offshore oil and gas exploration and development engineering equipment, offshore general supporting equipment and other offshore engineering products, providing research and development services for all shareholder units and offshore manufacturing bases at home and abroad EPC management services for design and project management

it is reported that China's offshore engineering equipment manufacturing industry has developed by leaps and bounds in recent years, and its output value has become the first in the world in just a few years. However, due to the technological monopoly and blockade of European and American countries, the manufacturing of marine engineering equipment has always insisted on being clean at the "low-end" level. The manufacturing of high-end equipment is faced with "weaknesses" such as lack of design, weak research and development, and lack of mastery of core components and technologies

"the focus of the Institute is to break through the technological monopoly of developed countries and supplement China's' weakness' in the manufacturing of high-end marine engineering equipment." Yanjun said

at the Hubei International Offshore equipment technology forum held on the 28th, some insiders said that domestic R & D has been mainly concentrated in universities and scientific research institutes, which belongs to theoretical thinking, and there is a disconnect between technical achievements and market demand

"the construction of research institutes led by enterprises is an engineering-oriented thinking. Guided by the market demand, the achievements are directly transformed and applied to fill the gap between research and production. At the same time, an integration platform between university research institutes and enterprise resources is built, which is closer to the market and more dynamic." Yanjun said

it is reported that Hubei offshore engineering research institute adopts an open cooperation mode, which not only independently develops and overcomes core design technologies, but also absorbs advanced technologies from European and American countries. By vigorously developing domestic design, R & D and general assembly manufacturing capabilities, we will enhance the core competitiveness of China's offshore equipment manufacturing, and lay a technical foundation for the national strategies of "maritime power", "the Belt and Road" and "made in China 2025"

Yan Jun said that after the full completion of Hubei Institute of offshore engineering, a design and R & D team of more than 1500 people will be formed in 2020 to support an industrial cluster with a total amount of more than 10billion yuan. It is an important project to build a national offshore engineering equipment R & D innovation base and drive the coordinated development of domestic offshore industry
